Orel IT triumphs over HSBC at Gamer.LK’s Mercantile Esports showdown

Orel IT beat HSBC Data Processing Lanka to become the best Mercantile Esports company 

The largest mercantile sporting event in the country, the Mercantile Esports Championship, organised by Gamer.LK and powered by Sri Lanka Telecom PLC came to a close on 1 December at Stein Studios. 

The Grand Finals saw Orel IT and HSBC Data Processing Lanka (HDPL) facing off each other having qualified from over 100 companies that took part in the qualifiers last month. 

This year’s Championship was organised for the fourth time by Gamer.LK in strategic partnership with the Sri Lanka Esports Association. 

The event was powered by Sri Lanka Telecom PLC who came onboard as the title partner for the event. The world renowned brand in the technology industry, Intel was the Technology Partner for the event, showcasing their latest Intel NUC devices. Harshana Samaranayake from Orel IT, the winner of the Intel Performance Gamer Challenge which was conducted at the event walked away with a free Intel NUC. Coca-Cola marked its entry into Esports in Sri Lanka as the Beverage Partner. 

GamerTech by MAS, the Esports & Wellness Partner for the event has entered into a partnership with Gamer.LK in developing a series of innovative solutions that will significantly improve gaming health, performance and longevity. 

Brylcreem the British brand of hair styling products for men, was the Hairstyling Partner at the event marking their first entry into Esports in Sri Lanka. Tariq Ahmed emerged as the winner of the Brylcreem Gentleman of Esports title.

Honda was the Motorcycle Partner for the event and gave away a Honda Navi motorbike to the Esports MVP, Rasheed Al Ameer.

This year’s Mercantile Esports Championship was also supported by the media partner MTV/MBC, the Cinema partner Scope Cinemas and the digital signage partner for the event Atom Media. 

The successful completion of the Mercantile Esports Championship marks the end of the annual series of major events Gamer.LK conducts for universities, companies and schools. The action continues as Sri Lanka’s biggest Esports and digital entertainment event – Sri Lanka Cyber Games is up next in the calendar, set to take place in early 2020.
