The Pannala racetrack will once again come into the limelight on 9 September when the Asian Motor Racing Club (AMRC), in association with the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR), conducts the circuit meet.
This will be a historic year when the Pannala event takes place under lights as well. Proceedings will commence at 3.00 p.m. and will go on until 10.00 p.m. with spectators assured of getting their money’s worth with some mouth-watering events taking place featuring local and overseas riders and drivers in action on the day.
This meet will be the final segment of the National Super Series 2017. The organisers have planned to run 10 car events and 10 motorcycle events on this day along with three Formula car events. The Formula car categories will be 1300cc EFI race 1 and 2 while the Ford Formula 1600cc cars will have one race.
Asian Rally champion Gaurav Gill is expected to participate in the SL-GT 3500cc along with some leading drivers such as Pasindu Peiris, Janaka Dias and Irshad Wahab.
In the bike segment Shiran Samuel and Pramuka Sesath will be battling it out for the top spot along with some new riders who are making their debut and will have nothing to lose in this event. They could pose a major threat to the top two riders.
