Peiris anchors Sri Lanka’s innings with century

  • Second 3-day Under-17 match against Bangladesh  

Opening batsman Rehan Peiris scored a workmanlike unbeaten century to steer Sri Lanka to 286-7 on the opening day of the second 3-day Under-17 match against touring Bangladesh at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Peiris anchored the innings with 139* scored off 250 balls inclusive of 18 fours and 2 sixes after Sri Lanka had won the toss and chose to bat first.

Peiris shared in four profitable partnerships of 89, 51, 45 and 52 with Rajith Navodya (48), Senuja Wekunagoda (30), skipper Kithma Withanapathirana (28) and Joshua Sebastian (17) respectively.  

Ahsanul Haque was the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers ending the day with figures of 3/47.
