People’s Bank Sports Festival 2018, organised by People’s Bank, concluded on a successful note at the Polonnaruwa National Stadium recently.

The sports festival was organised in a bid to develop camaraderie, unity and mutual understanding among People’s Bank employees serving across the island. A large number of athletes and employees participated in the sports festival representing all regions of People’s Bank.

Nuwara Eliya Regional clinched overall Championship while Batticaloa Regional became the First Runner-up. In addition, Jaffna Regional Branch was awarded Athletics Championship, Nuwara Eliya Regional was awarded Football and Volleyball Championships, Kandy Regional was awarded Netball Championship and Matale Regional was awarded Cricket Championship. 

Polonnaruwa Regional crowned Men’s Tug of War Champion, while Batticaloa Regional clinched the Women’s Tug of War Champion Trophy. People’s Bank Western Zone 1 Regional was adjudged the winner of People’s Bank Chairman’s Trophy Inter-Provincial Six-a-Side Hard ball Cricket Tournament.

The People’s Bank Sports Festival was conducted under the patronage of People’s Bank CEO/General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar. Designate CEO/General Manager of People’s Bank’s Rasitha Gunawardena, Senior Deputy General Manager (Banking Operations) Bonniface Silva, Deputy General Manager (Banking Support Services), Mahinda Premanath and Deputy General Manager (Human Resources) P.R.S. Jayatissa were among the dignitaries who graced the occasion.
