Police downs Air Force to end round one at number five

Police Sports Club ended round one of the Inter Club Rugby League 2023/2024 with a win over Air Force Sports Club by 34 points (5 tries, 3 conversions, 1 penalty) to 22 points (3 tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) at Police Park last weekend.

At the short breather winners led 14/10.

Police tries were scored by Deshan Fernando, Vihanga Pavithra, Matheesha Perera, Akash Madushanka and Sameera Jayasinghe. Shaveen Jayawardena made three conversions while the solitary penalty for the Cops was put over by Prince Chamara.

Meanwhile Air Force tries were scored by their skipper, Parakrama Rathnayake (2) and Hasindu Premasiri. Gayantha Iddamalgoda put over two try conversions and put over a penalty as well.

Police SC ended round on number five position while Air Force SC ended on sixth position. Both teams will feature in the Plate segment during round two of the Inter Club rugby round two which will commence after one week break.
