Police Sports Club produced a magnificent first half display to beat Army Sports Club by 25 points (four tries, one conversion, one penalty) to seven (one try, one conversion) in their Nippon Paint Rugby League encounter which concluded at the Police park last weekend. 

The win took the Cops not only for the number four position but also in to the Cup segment in round two.

Police led 25 to nothing at the short breather, totally controlling the game through their speedy three quarters.

Janith Chanaka, Suranga Kasun, Mohan Wimalratne and Vageesha Weerasinghe scored the tries for the Cops with Yohan Peiris converting one and putting over a solitary penalty. In the later half Police went in to defensive mode while the Solders in to attacking ways. 

In the end they found the gaping hole once crossing the try line through Chanaka Gunaratne with Tharindu Hettiarachchi adding the extra two points.

Referee Ishanka Abayakoon

Kandy SC, Havelock SC, CH and FC and Police will compete in the Cup segment while Air Force, Navy SC, Army SC and CR and FC will play for the Plate in round two which will commence next week.
