Sri Lanka Police SC showed their dominance in the Plate segment of the Inter Club rugby encounter with a resounding 67/19 victory over Sri Lanka Navy SC at Police Park on Saturday.

At the short breather Cops led 33/12.

The home side delivered a commanding performance, securing their position as the second-ranked team in the Plate competition, while Navy SC remained winless, officially bowing out of the Clifford Cup knockout contention as well as only the top 8 teams will only feature in it. Cops who put up one of the best performances this season crossed the Sailors try line on no less than 11 occasions while the Welisara outfit replied only with three of them. In the end the game turned out to be another mismatch effort by Navy SC which has been the result throughout this season.

Amjad Faumy (3), Udaya Sanjula (2), Akash Madusanka (2), Hafeez Thabith, Primesh Danushka, Nareen Kanishka, and Lahiru Thilakaratne all crossed the whitewash for Police, highlighting their attacking depth. Yohan Peiris was accurate with the boot, slotting four conversions, while Yehan Bulathsinghala and Naveen Kanishka also contributed with a conversion each.

Navy SC, on the other hand, managed to score through Isuru Kongahawatta, Hashan Madumadawa, and Dimuth Perera. Thilina Weerasinghe and Kongahawatta added the extras, but it was not enough to stop Police SC’s relentless onslaught.

This result cements Police SC’s position as a formidable force in the Plate segment but likely to miss out the Plate segment with CH is in a better position to grab the same.
