Re-energized, Police SC produced running rugby to hand off a demotivated Soldiers outfit by 41/19 at Police Park last week-end.
At the short breather Cops led 27/0 in a one way traffic.
Sachith Silva of Police showed their intention very clear with an early penalty for the Cops. Army pulling back, Gayan Salinda missed out on a similar opportunity. A few minutes later Police scored their first try through NishalSamdhi which went unconverted. Rasith Silva’s try was also unconverted by Sachith Silva, leaving Police commanding a 13 to nothing lead.
However, minutes later Sachith Silva produced a solo run which covered nearly 65 meters before scoring a magnificent try for the Cops. Yohan Peiris added the extras. Sachith Silva was taken out from a head injury but this never made Army to come in to the game. Sujan Kodituwakku try and Yohan conversion took the Cops to 27 to nothing lead at which time the short breather was taken. After the turn around it was one way traffic again as Rasith Silva scored his second try. Janith Chandimal added the extras. Aravinda and Rizvi tries and conversions by Salinda reduced the gap to 34/14 but never was a threat as the lead was commanding for the Cops to lose from this point onwards. MuhmatDeen try and conversion took Cops home comfortably. (SJ)
