Asia Rugby (AR) announced the Men’s and Women’s schedules for the Asia Rugby Sevens 2019 first leg, which will take place at the Namdong Asiad Ground on 31 August and 1 September.

Sri Lanka Men’s will play alongside Japan, UAE and China while Hong Kong, Philippines, South Korea and Taipei will battle it out in the other group.

In the Women’s segment, Sri Lanka will play alongside Japan, Hong Kong and Malaysia while Thailand, China, Kazakhstan and Singapore will play in the other group. Sri Lanka Men’s team under Head Coach Matt Lee will miss the service of some senior players who pulled out due to injury and studies. Meanwhile Sudath Sampath will be in charge of the Women’s outfit.

Sri Lanka will miss out in a winning a medal at the Under 18 Boy’s sevens in Kunming and Under 20 Men’s and Women’s sevens in Laos, as Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SSRFA) failed to register on time due to financial issues.
