A total of 23 teams teed off for glory at this year’s round of Sri Lanka’s pioneering corporate golf tourney, where Liu Qiyuan and Zhao Liang of Hunan Construction Company came third with 36 stableford points.
The 110th Shakespeare Shield was held at the Royal Colombo Golf Club on Sunday 12 December, and the official prize giving will take place on a later date. The tournament was worked off despite challenges posed by the COVID pandemic adhering to prescribed health and sporting guidelines.
The ‘Shakespeare Shield’ tournament is played in a stableford format, and it is the only Board event open to Corporates. It is a team event where two member players from any registered companies, diplomatic institutions, Government agencies, Police and the armed forces of Sri Lanka can participate. The tournament is named after W. Shakespeare, a former Chairman of Carson Cumberbatch PLC, who was elected to the RCGC Committee in 1908. The tournament has been sponsored exclusively by Carson Cumberbatch PLC since then.
