President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has commended the Sri Lanka cricket team for its performance in the series, clinching the ODI match against South Africa which was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka won the first ODI, lost the second, and bounced back to win the third and the series 2-1.
The ODI series victory against South Africa was registered after a period of eight years. Commenting on the national team’s performance, President Rajapaksa tweeted: “A victorious comeback of Sri Lanka’s cricket team, scoring a series win against South Africa, yesterday.” “Congrats and thanks to the team and coach for their commitment to a great performance that gave us so much to be proud of,” he added. Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa was also full of praise for the Sri Lankan team and coaching staff.
“What a gutsy performance and a massive victory for the new look #SriLanka team! Brilliant to see the energy and enthusiasm of this young team.
