President Ranil Wickremesinghe met the new Sri Lankan National Football Team on Tuesday at the Presidential Secretariat.
He praised the efforts of the National Team who won an international game against Bhutan 2-0 after a lapse of ten years last Monday at the concluded FIFA Series.
President encouraged the National Team’s mission of winning the South Asian Championship (SAFF) next year and pledged his support for the development of infrastructure for football in the near future.
Football is on the rise in Sri Lanka in the last few months. FSL has now built a stronger National Team by including many players of Sri Lankan descent playing from professional leagues in different parts of the world.
FSL President Jaswar Umar, Head Coach Andy Morrison, and the entire National Team took the opportunity to pose for a photo with the President.
