The National School Games is one of the most prominent school-level sporting events in Sri Lanka, conceptualised with the aim of providing a solid platform for rising stars to showcase their flair for sports and great sportsmanship. Organised by the Sports Branch of the Ministry of Education, the annual Games this year saw young athletes from over 4,800 schools island wide, competing under the age groups of 14, 16, 18 and 20 years. The event was graced by Minister of Education Dr. Susil Premajayantha. Keeping true to its promise of going an extra mile to make an impact in people’s lives, Prima provided its much-loved noodles free to over 6,000 student athletes that participated in the five-day event.

The Games not only brings much-needed recognition within Sri Lanka, but also encourages and supports to represent the country at major international competitions such as Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and South Asian Games.

This year drew special attention as the event rewarded Tharushi Karunaratne, 800m Gold Medalist and 4*400m Bronze Medalist Jayeshi Uththara, both of whom brought immense glory to the Island Nation at the recently concluded Asian Games.

With a drive to recognise and empower fresh talent from all corners of the country, Prima has extended its support to push forward national efforts of producing excellent sportsmen and sportswomen since 2010. As a brand that believes in the power of sports, Prima is determined to continue their contribution to the upliftment of the local sporting scene to global standards.
