Priya in the lead but Reshan major threat

  • Overline Trials for Asian Games 2023

 

Reshan Algama the 15-year-old school boy from Colombo International School (CIS) was in sparkling form on the 2nd day of the trials for Asian Games 2023 conducted by Sri Lanka Golf at the Victoria Golf Resort in Rajawella.

End of day two Priya Hemantha (148) continued his lead and a major threat from the 15 year old school boy, Reshan Algama (149) and Uchchitha Ranansinghe (150) were the top three golfers and another 2 days of entertaining golf awaited.

 Reshan Algama shot a two under par round to lead amongst the amateurs by one shot from seasoned and senior Sri Lankan Amateur Golfer, Uchchita Ranasinghe and by five shots from Veteran Amateur, Chanaka Perea. Reshan with a total of 149, shot 5 birdies to overcome a four shot difference from Uchchitha on day two with a total of 150. Priya Hemanth, one of the two professionals taking part presently, is overall leading amongst professionals and amateurs by one shot (total score of 148) from Reshan Algama with Vijith Bandara placed 5th with a total score of 151.

Two more interesting days of golf and a ding-dong battle is expected amongst the participating Sri Lankan Golf professionals and amateurs. The event was very well organised by Sri Lanka Golf giving equal opportunities for their berth at the Asian Games which will take place in China during the month of September 2023.The series of tournaments are organised by Sri Lanka Golf giving equal opportunities on selections.
