Former Antonian, CR & FC, CH & FC, Kandy SC player and Sri Lanka skipper, Priyantha Ekanayake will call it a day at the end of this month from his position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Sri Lanka Rugby.

Priyantha, who joined as the CEO of Sri Lanka a year back, was working along with Inthi Marikar on the high-performance coaching structure. They were focusing both on Men’s as well as Women’s rugby in the country. It’s very unlikely that SLR will fill this position. Priyantha is tipped to take over the development of baseball in the country from August.

Priyantha, who led CR & FC, Kandy SC and Sri Lanka in fifteens, was selected for the Asian Barbarians in the past. He also held the position of President at Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union (SLRFU) with former top class referee Dilroy Fernando as his Secretary.

Priyantha, who played for the Antonians outfit during 1983, moved to CR & FC and CH & FC before returning to his home town club, Kandy SC in 1992. In New Zealand during a short stint he represented Ravense Bourne SC.

He led the Asian Barbarians against the Hong Kong Under 24 outfit. He also coached Kandy SC for short time.
