The second day of the Sri Lankan Golf Ranking Tournament and the selection trials for the Junior tour of Thailand and Malaysia proved to be a battle of skill, determination, and resilience.
Participants faced gloomy and wet conditions at the picturesque Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) with professional golfer, N. Thangaraja taking the lead over M. Prabagaran with a remarkable 4-under-par round of 71, accumulating a total score of 138.
His performance was particularly impressive, being the only player to complete an under-par round on a day where conditions were nothing short of extreme. Not far behind Thangaraj, Anura Rohana displayed his prowess with a total score of 141, closely followed by K. Prabagaran with 142, securing the third position on the overall leaderboard dropping down 2 places from his number 1 position on the initial day.
In the Amateurs segment Uchitha Ranasighe emerged leading the way, maintaining a consistent even-par round and finishing with a score of 143. The young and talented 15 year old, Reshan Algama exhibited great character by consistently once again playing a two-over-par round thus climbing to share the second position with Vinod Weerasinghe and B Vinodh, all with scores of 146. K. Danushan secured the next spot with a total score of 148.
The next two days promise even more excitement and fierce competition as golfers battle not only their opponents but also the tough weather conditions. With so much at stake, spectators can expect thrilling performances and nail-biting finishes.
