Pushpika lead National Ranking Golf Tournament ahead of final day

Chalitha Pushpika continued his dominance in the National Ranking Golf Tournament, maintaining his lead after three consistent rounds with scores of 68, 68, and 69, bringing his aggregate to 205. The experienced golfer has led from early is 11-stroke lead heading into the final round, making him the clear favourite to claim the title at the Royal Colombo Golf Club yesterday.

Today will be the fourth and final day at RCGC.

Despite Pushpika’s commanding position, young Reshan Algama has shown remarkable skill and composure throughout the tournament. His steady improvement over three rounds (74-70-72) has secured him second place with an aggregate of 216. Algama’s performance highlights his potential as one of Sri Lanka’s rising golf talents, and he will be keen to put in a strong final-round performance to consolidate his position where he claimed from number 4 on Day 1 to number 2 on Day 3.

Hot on Algama’s heels is Jacob Norton, who sits just one stroke behind with a total score of 217 (68-75-74). With such a narrow gap between second and third place, the final round promises an intense battle for the runner-up position. Both Algama and Norton will need to bring their best game if they are to hold off any challenges from the chasing golfers.

The tournament’s final day will see the top 15 golfers compete for their final positions on the leaderboard. While Pushpika’s lead makes him the overwhelming favourite, golf is an unpredictable sport.

Pushpika’s consistency has been the hallmark of his performance so far. His ability to maintain low scores across three rounds, combined with his experience, gives him a strong edge going into the final stretch.

A new tournament for the Junior Golfers sponsored by Pro Golf commenced yesterday with this event opened to players 21 years and below saw Thejas Rathiskanth leading with a score of 73 for the boys while Sithara Lorance leading the girls with a score of 95.

This event too will conclude today after two rounds at RCGC.
