Pyramid Wilmer’s Lasith Fernando century key highlight of MCA ‘C’ division 50 Over League Tournament

Top order batsman Lasith Fernando’s century for Pyramid Wilmer, the gutsy 94 runs by Waruna Dissanayake for Peoples Leasing, and spinner Ravin Perumal’s splendid bowling performance for Standard Chartered went a-begging in the ongoing 7th Prestige Automobile Ltd., ‘BMW – Hyundai’ Trophy MCA ‘C’ division 50 Over League Tournament 2018, continued last week.

Pyramid Wilmer Vs. NTB ‘A’: Lasith Fernando (107 in 140 balls, inclusive of 17 hits to the ropes) with Aruna Dharmasena (56) held Pyramid Wilmer’s batting, with a fighting 135 run stand for the 05 wicket in 162 balls, they recovered from 40 for 4 to 175 for 5 & finish with a respectable 230 in 48.5 overs. A 90 runs opening stand in 72 balls between Dulanja Silva (33) & Tharindu Ariyawansa (56) & useful contributions from Malshan Fernando (35) & Tharindu Lakshan (37) saw NTB coast to 236 for 6 in 33.2 overs, thus winning by 4 wickets.

Commercial Leasing & Finance vs. Std. Chartered: while the SCB front line bowlers, Sylwin Jamion (7.5-62-2), Aruna Henrison (9-72-1) & Harith Wijesuriya (2-30-0) were taken into task, Ravin Perumal bowled with authority to shackle the top order batsman (10-2-38-5). Commercial Leasing’s tail wagged vigorously, No. 8, Chandimal Perera (27), No. 9 Shehan Nanayakkara (38), No. 10 , Sandun Sampath (50) No. 11 Priyantha Chandrasena (29 not out), as they recovered from 100 for 6 in 19.2 overs to 303 in 47.5 overs. Despite a late rally of 105 runs for the 8th wicket in 86 balls via Sylwin Jamion (69) & Hiran Rajapaksa (36), SCB miserably fell short by 58 runs (245 for 9 in 50).

Kanrich Finance Vs. Peoples Leasing: No. 4 batsman, Waruna Dissanayake (94 in 117 runs inclusive of 2 sixes & 10 fours) stood up for Peoples Leasing, who was chasing 251 runs in 50 Overs; Dissanayake held on until the end (9th out), but could not prevent Kanrich Finance ‘B’ running away with a 32 runs win; thus Kanrich ‘B’ stay unbeaten with their 3rd successive win.

The other noteworthy performances came from Hasitha Perera from CDB (79 in 77 with 12 fours Vs. Stafford Motors) , Chathuranga Dikkumbura from CDB (5.3-1-17-5  Vs. Stafford Motors), Asher Warnakulasuriya from Pyramid Wilmer (5.4 -25-5 Vs. Softlogic Holdings) & Tharushan Iddamalgoda (76) and Ravindu Sanjeewa (59) from Kanrich Finance “B”, who put on 105 runs for the 2nd wicket Vs. Peoples Leasing.
