Asserting their commitment to promoting wellness and supporting wellbeing among Sri Lankans, leading fitness equipment and treadmill supplier Quantum Fitness signed on decorated national swimmer Hiruki De Silva as Brand Ambassador recently.

The official ceremony to welcome De Silva to the Quantum Fitness universe was held at the Battaramulla showroom, where Chairman Nomal Wijeyaratne handed over the sponsorship letter.

Speaking on the occasion, he noted: “Quantum has had a longstanding commitment to supporting sports in Sri Lanka and helping Sri Lankan sportsmen and women reach their full potential. We identified Hiruki’s potential to put Sri Lanka on the global swimming map, and wanted to support her efforts wholeheartedly. Hiruki’s achievements so far have been exemplary, and we look forward to watching her take Sri Lankan swimming to great heights.”

De Silva has already had an outstanding year in the pool, breaking junior national and South Asian records. At the World Aquatics Championships in Doha, she managed to record the fastest time recorded by a South Asian swimmer in the 200m women’s freestyle event. It was also recorded as her personal best which she swam in the preliminary round, recording 2.10.00 minutes. However, she narrowly missed out on the semi-finals and finished 39th overall.

A student of Gateway College, De Silva is the current women’s national champion. Last year, she won five Gold medals in the 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 400m freestyle, and 200m individual medley, thereby dominating the freestyle discipline in the women’s senior category. Her local performances also opened doors for het to participate as a higher FINA Points athlete at the Commonwealth Youth Games, which was held in Trinidad and Tobago, and the World Junior Swimming Championship, which was held in Israel.

Quantum Fitness has previously supported various sports in Sri Lanka through partnerships with the Foundation of Goodness to supply fitness equipment to underprivileged sportsmen and women training at their various facilities. The new brand ambassador signing further cements the company’s ongoing commitment to uplifting the standard of sports in Sri Lanka.

Since 1998, Quantum Fitness has been providing Sri Lankans with internationally recognised fitness equipment from brands such as ProForm, Nordic Track, Sole, iFit, Impulse, Freemotion, and many more.
