RCGC 102nd Club Championship tee off today

The 102nd Club Championship pre quarter final stages will be worked off at Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) today. Ladies Silver and Bronze too will take place on the same day. Club championship Gents segment will be defended by Amrith de Soysa while the Ladies will be defended by Kaya Daluwatte.

This showcases the extraordinary achievements of the first winner R.J. Elloit in 1914, the late P.I.N. Fernando, Rusi Captain, and Anouk Chitty, who have shaped a century of sporting greatness. Late P.I.N. Fernando, a record-holder with 19 wins, Rusi Captain with 14 wins, and Anouk Chitty, a formidable force from the lady’s section with a record of 8 wins, have all demonstrated exceptional skills and championship success. 

The event is not just a championship, but a celebration of legacy, dedication, and the pursuit of excellence. The final will take place on 13 August at the RCGC course.

Along with some top class players such as Sachin de Silva, Amrith de Soysa and Suhayb Sangani there will be some classy youngsters. Reshan Algama long range hitter, Yannik Kumara both will be top class juniors while the youngest of the event is the 12 year old, Thejas Rathis Kanth.
