RR Donnelley Outsource Ltd. won the FITIS Cricket 6’s 2024 Championship Trophy by defeating Mars Network Ltd. in the finals held at Air Force Rifle Green Ground, Colombo on
2 November.
ICT Infrastructure Chapter of Federation of Information Technology (Guarantee) Ltd. (FITIS), conducts this tournament annually to provide an opportunity for the employees of ICT companies to interact in a friendly environment.
The tournament was initially held at Thurstan College Sports Ground on 29 September 2024, with the participation of 75 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams. However, the matches were interrupted due to adverse weather conditions.
In the women’s tournament, Metropolitan Technologies Ltd. claimed the championship title by defeating Altria Consulting Ltd. in the final match. In the men’s tournament V S Information Systems Ltd. ended up as the 2nd runner up.
Additionally, several individual prizes were also awarded. In the women’s category, the Best Bowler trophy was awarded to Dulari Dusshanthi (Metropolitan Technologies), and S.D.K. Devindi (Sala Enterprises Ltd.) was judged as the best batter. In the men’s tournament, the Best Bowler award was won by Mohammed Aashiq (RR Donnelley Outsource), with the Best Batsman being awarded to M.K. Avishan Umayanga (Mars Network).
The tournament became more exciting with the selection of IT Industry King and Queen and IT Industry Dancing King and Queen.
An exhibition cricket match was played by Legends in the ICT industry (over 50 years) with the two teams being led by Ivor Maharoof (Metropolitan Technologies) and Roshan Rassool (Softlogic Information Technologies).
FITIS Chairman Indika De Zoysa commented that this is the 15th edition of FITIS Cricket 6’s, which brings together professionals of all levels of the ICT Industry, providing them a great opportunity for social networking. He further stated that this gathering will support the ICT companies to work together in developing the industry.
The tournament was powered by MSI a world leader in high-end solutions dedicated to empowering global gamers, creators and business elites. Mastercard the world-renowned credit/debit card service provider was the Platinum Sponsor for the tournament.
