RS Steel sponsors 48th edition of ‘Samagi CycleTour 2018’

RS Steel, the leading steel bars-manufacturing company in Sri Lanka that manufactures the best quality steel bars; RS QST RB 500 fully sponsored the biggest ever cycling race ‘Samagi Cycle Tour 2018’ held in the southern region of the country. 

The sporting event that was conducted with the comprehensive monitoring of ‘Sri Lanka Cycle federation’ was organised by Samagi Sports Club, Wellabada, Boossa and held for the 48th occasion.

The cycling race that covered a stretch of 150 km had 52 contestants of whom many were national level cyclists. When races commenced from Wellabada, Boossa, RS Steel directors, Samagi Sports Club members and distinguished guests made their presence to greet the competitors.

The Samagi Cycle Tour shield was clinched by Jeewan Jayasinghe of Sri Lanka Air force, who is the South Asian gold medal winner for cycle racing. The second and third places were secured by Sanath Jayasinghe(Sri Lanka Army) and Nishantha Perera (Dehiwala-Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council). 

RS Steel Chairman Dr.Sivalingam Ramesh, speaking on fully sponsoring the Samagi Cycle Tour, said this is the biggest cycling event held annually in the southern region of the country.

“RS Steel Company came forward to fully sponsor ‘SamagiCycle Tour - 2018’ for a special reason. Sporting events contribute towards bequeathing discipline, a positive frame of mind and strength to the youth. It is significant that, presently, Sri Lankan youth pay more interest towards cycling races. With this rejuvenated interest, our sportsmen are now keen on participating in international cycling events”, he commented.
