RTC Magic Million Cup on 24 April

The RTC Magic Million Cup will be held on 24 April at the Racecourse in Nuwara Eliya, culminating the RTC Horse Racing Festival 2021 with a lineup of five races. 

The main race, the RTC Magic Million Cup, will be the main attraction of the day where top runners Western Wind, Alcazaba, Spirited Touch, Santos, Parushram, Night of Key, Meheran, Carlton and Areca Wonder are expected to compete against each other for honours.

Out of the bunch, Western Wind, the winner of the RTC Governor’s Cup 2021 powered by EFL, will run under tremendous pressure against title hunters Alcazaba and Spirited Touch, both winners of the prestigious title. The 1,800 metre race for Class I and II horses will surely provide the excitement and thrill anticipated by horse racing enthusiasts, as Western Wind aim to continue its winning streak, gained from last week and Alcazaba and Spirited Touch drawing plans to rewrite the history with an unexpected win.

The battle for supremacy will definitely provide the enthralling finale to a successful Horse Racing Festival 2021, which included three racedays in total.

The day will comprise four more races for horses of Class V, Class IV, Class III and Class II, before the curtain falls down on the seasonal festival, which gained attention by many, local and overseas. 

Royal Turf Club (RTC) conducted its Spring and Summer Raceday on 20 March before dishing out the RTC Governor’s Cup powered by EFL on 15 April, which was held on a grand scale, but under strict health restrictions imposed by the health authorities. The same health protocols will adhere to the upcoming raceday RTC Magic Million Cup with strict social distancing and other guidelines to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

After the Magic Million Cup this Saturday, RTC will continue its activities for the rest of the year with racedays planned in August, September, November and December at the cosy and chilled town of Nuwara Eliya.
