The first Fair and Lovely Men’s MCA ‘B’ Division 50-over league tournament, which commenced on 9 September, is still trying to find its feet due to the prevailing weather conditions.
Out of the seven matches on the match program so far, only three have gone the full distance. All three games on 13 September got washed out.
The first centurion of the tournament was Nimanda Madushanka from MAS Silueta (100 not out against Mobitel on 13 September at De Soysa Park, Moratuwa) but Madushanka’s effort was in vain, as the match ended in a no-result due to bad weather. MAS Silueta, sent into bat, scored 281 for 5 in 50 overs. Mobitel was 8 for 1 in 1.2 overs when rain caused play to be abandoned.

At Havelock Park: Powertek Cement beat Unilever by 3 wickets.

At MCA: Mobitel beat Singer SL by 8 wickets.

The tournament will be continued on 20 and 23 September with a card of five matches.
