Rain proved a spoiler in the first Under-17 limited-over match between Sri Lanka and the touring Bangladesh team forcing a no-result at the Galle International Cricket Stadium yesterday.

Invited to bat first Bangladesh were dismissed for 141 off 33.5 overs with openers Abdullah Al Muhi (31) and Mohamed Ridoy Hossain (40) making the principal contributions in a partnership 

of 76.

Right-arm leg-spinner Vigneshwaran Akash was the pick of the Lankan bowlers taking 5/27 and triggering a collapse where the last eight wickets fell for 47 runs.

Sri Lanka chasing a revised target of 126 faced 5.3 overs and scored 23-1 before the rains set in.

The second limited-over match will be played at the same venue tomorrow.
