In a stunning display of skill and prowess, Sri Lanka’s rising badminton star Ranithma Liyanage emerged victorious in the women’s singles round of 32 at the prestigious 2023 Bendigo International, on Wednesday.
The event, boasting a generous prize pool of $15,000 and categorised as an International Challenge event, has attracted top talent from across the globe.
Liyanage showcased her exceptional talent by defeating Australia’s Ira Sameer Acharya with an impressive score of 21-7, 21-4. In the round of 16, she was beaten by Singapore’s Yue Yann Jaslyn Hooi with the score of 21-14 and 22-20.
The 2023 Bendigo International is taking place at the Red Energy Arena in Bendigo West, Victoria, Australia. The tournament is organised by Badminton Australia in collaboration with the Bendigo-Eaglehawk Badminton Association and has received official sanctions from Badminton Oceania and the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
