The Sri Lanka Air Force, in collaboration with Eagles Golf Links and Courses, organised and conducted the Third Monsoon Cup Golf Tournament 2024, which saw more than 60 leading golfers from around the island teeing off in China Bay last weekend.
The event, worked off under the Stableford Scoring System, featured some outstanding golf, with Ranjith Leon walking away with the Eagles Monsoon Cup Trophy in the Gents segment. Wing Commander Lakmal Gunawardana (Rtd.) was the runner-up. In the Ladies’ segment, veteran golfer Frank de Mel won the event, with Dilini Hennayake finishing as the runner-up. The Eagles Monsoon Defence Challenge Trophy, awarded to members of the Tri-Services in the Gents segment, was won by Squadron Leader Janaka Pitawela of the Sri Lanka Air Force. Major Tissa Kumara from the Sri Lanka Army was the runner-up for the Defence Challenge Trophy. The awards for the Eagles’ Monsoon Cup were given away at a gala Awards Ceremony held at Marble Beach, with Air Marshal Udeni Rajapaksa serving as the Chief Guest.
This year’s tournament was also sponsored by Huawei.
