Record number of entries received for SSC Open Badminton Championships

A record number of more than 1450 shuttlers will be seen in action during this year’s SSC All Island Open Badminton Championships which will take place from 13 to 22 September, Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) has announced.

The annual ranking tournament which is a major event in the country’s badminton calendar, will be held at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) courts and the Mercantile Badminton Association Indoor courts in Colombo. Apart from the open men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and the mixed doubles events which will be the cynosure of all eyes, men’s and women’s veterans’ over-35 (men’s) 40, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70 singles and doubles are also part of this nine day event.

In addition to those, boys and girls under-11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 singles and doubles are also part of the interesting line-up of events set to take place during the tournament which is one of the biggest event events in the history of badminton in Sri Lanka.

The tournament is organised by the SSC and will be conducted by the SLB according to the BWF rules and regulations.
