 Reshan Algama and Kumar Danushan shared the lead at the end of day one of the Srixton Junior Open Golf Tournament which was worked off at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC). 

Reshan in the Gold division for 15 to 18+ years started the year in sensational form, shooting an impressive even-par 71 on day one. Sharing the lead with Algama was Kumar Danushan, who also carded a magnificent performance to even-par 71, setting the stage for an intense competition in the next two days.

Jevahn Sathasivam secured third place with a respectable 73, closely followed by Yannik Kumara at 74 in fourth spot. All four players are not only vying for the championship but also eyeing valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points.

In the 13 to 15+ years segment, Varun Fernando displayed exceptional skill, leading the pack with a brilliant 4-over 75. T. Deshan secured second position with a score of 77, while Keshav Algama, the younger brother of Reshan Algama shared third place with Adithya Weerasinghe, a very highly talented golfer from Anuradhapura at 79 along with Kaweesha Sandaruwan making the competition fierce and unpredictable.

The Bronze Division for 11 years and under, playing 14 holes the leader was Shenal Nimsith with a total score of 58 at end of day one. Lavidu Premarathne from Anuradhapura is closely trailing in second position with a score of 62, followed by Lithum Silva at 66 in third spot. Udeera Bandara, also from Anuradhapura, rounds up the top four with a score of 70.

In the Copper Division for 10 years and under, playing 9 holes, Revaan Amarasinghe showcased exceptional talent and versatility, securing a commanding lead by 8 shots with a score of 32. Jaidon Herath holds second position at 41, while Jaeden Sathasivam, younger brother of Jevahn and Abiman Abeywardhane from Anuradhapura are tied for third spot at 42.

Meanwhile, another two top-class junior players – brothers Thejas Rathis Kanth and Yuvan Rathis Kanth did not play in this tournament as they are recovering from illness.
