Reshan impresses on day 1

Reshan Algama 

Sri Lanka’s Reshan Algama showed exceptional form on the opening day of the All India Junior Golf Championship, carding a solid round of 72. Competing against India’s top junior golfers, Reshan displayed remarkable consistency, finishing just two strokes behind the joint leaders Hiransh Singh (Delhi), Armaan Gawde (Maharashtra), and Krish Chawla (Chandigarh), all tied at the top with scores of 70. Reshan was tied on 7th with Saurav Paruthi of Karanataka region.Another set of 3 more players were tied with a score of 71 each. This event being worked off in Bangalore.

Reshan’s round was full of skill and composure, as he navigated the challenging course with a mix of precision and resilience. On the back nine, Reshan demonstrated his tenacity, overcoming a bogey on the 15th with a birdie on the 16th, ultimately closing with a 37.  Joining Reshan in representing Sri Lanka, Adhitya Weerasinghe, the young talent from Ananda College, also put up a commendable performance. He carded a three-over-par 75, placing him tied for 18th position, a respectable among a competitive field. 

With only two shots separating him from the leaders, Reshan’s performance has positioned him as a strong contender heading into the next rounds. As representatives of Sri Lanka, these young golfers Reshan and Aditya continue to make their country proud, proving they belong among the best in junior golf in the region.
