Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Senior School Athletic Championship 2019 draws to exhilarating close

Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s number one chocolate brand together with the Sri Lanka School Athletics Association organised the 89th Sir John Tarbet Senior School Athletic Championship 2019 with the aim of uplifting the standards of sports in Sri Lanka whilst supporting budding athletes. 

The highly anticipated all-island finals of the event drew to a successful close on 12 September at Sri Lanka’s premier sporting complex, Sugathadasa Stadium. This year’s championship attracted over 5,000 participants from 300 schools.

The 89th Sir John Tarbet Senior School Athletic Championship 2019 was powered by the premier chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s most sought after chocolate brand, for the ninth consecutive year. This longstanding partnership stands as a testament to Ritzbury’s commitment in identifying and supporting local talent. 

A. Ratnayake Central School, Walala emerged as the Overall Champions in the female category while the Overall Champion from the Male category was St. Peter’s college, Colombo. Clinching a close second position was Holy Cross, Gampaha, named the Runner-Up in the female category along with the Runner Up in the Male category, St. Benedict’s College, Colombo. 

The names of the victorious best Male and Female athletes were also announced as a part of the celebrations. Shelinda Jansen of Gateway International School, Rajagiriya was crowned as the best Female athlete and Y.C.M. Yodhasinghe of St. Mary’s College, Kegalle took home the title of the best Male athlete. Ritzbury remains confident that the support given out to these athletes will contribute towards progress over the years as they emerge into highly acclaimed sporting stars of the future.

Apart from its focus on the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Senior School Athletic Championship, they also extend their support to power the Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship, Ritzbury Super 16 Junior Rugby Carnival and the Ritzbury Vidudaya Swimming Championship.
