Rohana Dissanayake appointed as President of MCA

Old Trinitian and David Pieris Group of Companies Chairman and Managing Director Rohana Dissanayake was unanimously elected as the President of the Mercantile Cricket Association (MCA) for his second term, at the 103rd Annual General Meeting, held on 24 September at the MCA Legends New Wing at 6.30 p.m. 

There are no new faces in the Executive Committee; all posts were retained unanimously, as last year. The members of the Executive Committee are as follows,

 

  • Patron – Hemaka Amarasuriya
  • Vice Patrons – Chandra Shaffter, Upali Dharmadasa and Chris Obeysekere
  • Trustees – K. Mathivanan, Neil Perera and Mahesh Wijewardena 

 

The list of the elected office bearers for the period 2020/21 are as follows,

  • President – Rohana Dissanayake (David Pieris Group of Companies)
  • Vice Presidents – Nalin Wickramasinghe (Mode Engineering), Mahesh de Alwis (Fairfirst Insurance) and Thushan Amarasuriya (Singer Sri Lanka (Finance)
  • Gen. Secretary – Sirosha Gunatillaka (Trendex Lanka)
  • Asst. Secretary – Rohan Somawansa (DSI Group)
  • Treasurer – Achintha Hewanayake (DFCC Bank)
  • Asst. Treasurer – Sanjaya Wijesinghe (First Choice)
  • Firm Representatives – Duminda Pinto (Merchant Bank SL), P.K. Abeygunasekera (John Keells Group), Ajith Siyambalapitiya (MAS Unichela), Sajith Atapattu (Asia Asset Finance), Hasitha Dasanayake (CDB Finance)

     

Due to the pandemic, the 2020  season which normally ends in September over lapped, with ‘F’ and ‘G’ Divisions and the Open ‘Sixes’ still remaining. The ‘F’ Division got off to a start on 26 September and the ‘G’ division is scheduled to commence late October and the open ‘sixes’ will be held early December.
