Former Antonian rugby player, Sarasaviya MV, Kingswood and Antonian Junior Coach, Rohitha Mendis passed away after brief illness in Kandy two days ago.
Rohitha played for the Antonians 2nd XV from 99 to 2001 before starting his coaching career at the Peradeniya School. He was taken in to Kingswood by then Head Coach Ronny Ibrahim. Rohitha later on moved to coach his alma mater. He was specialised in junior coaching. He took Antonians Under 16 in to the championship in 2006 and four years later took the Randles Hill team to become champions. His involvement with rugby coaching continued at University of Peradeniya as well taking them to become champions in three years.
His funeral took place in Kandy yesterday. (SJ)
