Ronny appointed Head Coach at Anthony’s

Former Kingswood, Kandy SC, Police SC player, former Navy SC and current Rugby Consultant of CH & FC rugby outfit, Ronny Ibrahim was appointed as the Head Coach of the Katugastota Antonians for 2018/2019 rugby season. He will sign his contract in the coming weeks.

Ronny after playing for Randles Hill School from 1985 to 1987 coached his school for three years (2003-2006). Under his coaching, Kingswood won the Triple Crown for three consecutive years in 2003 2004 and 2005. They also won the Sevens tournament’s many times including the famous Singer Sri Lanka sevens and All Island sevens titles.

Ronny is a proud product of family history where he is the third of six brothers. All six played with great distinction for their alma mater went on to play for Kandy SC. Ronny captained the Kingswood College rugby team in 1987. His brothers Roy Ibrahim, Rinnie Ibrahim and Nilfer Ibrahim too captained Kingswood.

Under his coaching the Sailors ended as (2009-3rd), (2010-3rd), (2011-2nd), (2012-3rd) and in the knock out tournaments (2010 and 2011 runner up). He also took short stints with the Thomians outfit plus the Indian sevens team.

Last year he was a Rugby Consultant at St. Anthony’s in round 2 where they won all their matches under his watchful eyes. Before he took over they lost out to Thomians and in the end the Plate was so close yet so far.

Antonians are yet to make the decision on the skipper for their 2019 rugby outfit.
