Sri Lankan national selectors headed by Rohan Abeykoon named a pool of 29 players in order for the preparation for the Asian Sevens 2019 which will take place in South Korea, China and Sri Lanka in August and September this year.
Surprisingly former Kingswood and Kandy SC skipper Roshan Weeraratne was left out of the initial squad after his consistent performance at the Mercantile Sevens plus last year’s event.
The selected pool begun training under New Zealender Matt Lee. Sri Lanka’s highest ranking at the shorter version of the game was number 3 achieved nearly a decade ago.
