Rotary T.R.R. Rajan Cricket Sixes a success

The 2024 edition of the six a side cricket tournament exclusively for Rotarians and Rotaractors of Sri Lanka took place 11 May 2024 at Nittawela Rugby stadium Kandy. 

The championship organised by the Rotary Club of Kandy is sponsored by the legendary hill capital company Sun match in memory of its founder entrepreneur and business personality late T.R.R Rajan. 

The strategic partners were, gold sponsor Crystal pack PVT and others were Swarna and sons PVT, W.K. Holding PVT, Easy fit PVT, Pharmax healthcare PVT. 

“Late T.R.R. Rajan who was the 51st president of the Rotary Club of Kandy, did yeoman service to the community. Better known as TRR as he was known as a versatile sportsman, sports benefactor, philanthropist and above all a gentleman of the highest calibre. He was the first to enter the field of sponsorship and the lucky club was Kandy Sports Club rugby team in 1992, the year they won the first trophy, the Clifford Cup. Later he sponsored Old Trinitians Sports Club rugby team. He also gave a big hand for hockey which his father P.T. Rajan re-introduced to Kandy. At present all TRR’s good work is continued by his brother BDR Rajan known as Suri, one-time Rotary Governor of District 3220,” said Pearly Liyanage President of Rotary club of Kandy. 

The events bring together over 1000 Rotarians and Rotaractors for comrade and healthy competition which has been an annual get-together that is taking place for the 19th time in Sri Lanka. 

The current Chairman Deshamanya Suri Rajan Commented we continue to sponsor this event as he was a passionate philanthropist who believed in the values of Rotary. 

The 2024 edition of TRR Rajan memorial trophy was won in the Rotary category by Rotary Club of Wariyapola and Rotaract category by Joint champs Rotaract club University of Peradeniya and Rotaract club of Nallur Heritage. Runners up Rotary Club of Colombo mid-city.
