Royal Principal Abeyratne heads Schools Rugby

Royal College, Colombo Principal B.A. Abeyratne will head the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) for 2020 as the President. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) took place in Colombo recently.

Abeyratne will be taking over from former Kingswood College Principal and Ministry Director of Education Ranjith Chandrasekera who is going out after doing a yeoman service for schools rugby in the country facing many tough situation during his term.

Nirodha Wijerama of St. John’s College was re-elected as General Secretary and Damitha Perera of St. Benedict College was re-elected as Treasurer.

According to the latest controversial circular by Education Department none of the private school principals will be eligible for office bearer position which is under question at present. This will mainly affect schools such as Trinity, St. Thomas and Wesley which are private institutions.
