Fred de Seram Trophy is set to tee off on 25 February where over 120 Golfers consisting of the Old Boys of Royal and St. Thomas will participate. The tournament itself will be conducted on a specific and focused concept in the style of playing golf for charity in line with a joint initiative.

The Fred de Saram Trophy was presented in 1970 in memory and honour of the gentleman who was a legal luminary. An investiture of tradition and history of Sri Lanka Golf is attached hereto.

The above Golf Tournament stands as a forerunner to the famed Royal Thomian Cricket Match that is to be played from 7 to 9 March. This is the second oldest school Big Match in the World

This tournament is focused on old boys of the two colleges, 21 years of age and above, holding a handicap from a recognised Golf Club. A conventional Four Ball Competition with a 3/4” handicap system would be used for the Tournament. Captains of the two Colleges will nominate teams in pairs. Pairs would be matched to ensure healthy, exciting, and equitable competition. This is achieved by matching average aggregate of handicaps of each pair closely as possible, to that of the opposing team. Non-Seniors would play off the white Tees and seniors off yellow Tees. A senior opting to pair off with a non-senior, he will be obliged to play off the white Tees. All matches will be played over 18 holes. The exception would be matches of veteran seniors limited to 9 holes of play. Overall, winners will be declared on the aggregated points of all flights.

The Award Ceremony will immediately follow the Tournament at the RCGC over lunch.
