Royal College will be the favoured team to keep the 75th Bradby Shield at Reid Avenue when they lock horns with Trinity College at the Royal Sports Complex.

Kick-off is scheduled at 4 p.m. Royal 1982 skipper, former Kandy SC, CR&FC and National fifteen player Ted Muttiah will be the Chief Guest at this occasion.

Royal, led by Thulaib Hassen, will be walking in to Royal Sports Complex with a clear 17 points lead carried forward from the first leg at Pallekelle two weeks back. It will be an uphill task for the Lions to come back and grab the trophy in Colombo. In the last four decades, it has occurred only once, and that was under Murad Ramzeen, with Trinity losing out to Royal in the close encounter and outclassing the Royal outfit in leg two in Colombo by 40 plus points to grab the Bradby Shield. One team winning in tandem with the highest was held by Trinity College from 1952 to 1956. Now this, too, is at stake with Royal posing a major threat in the long run. Royal is coached by Dushantha Lewke while Trinity is coached by Rodney So’yalu.  This encounter will be officiated by Ishanka Abeykoon, a young referee from Nugawela Central who will blow his Bradby encounter.

Trinity are the clear favoured team in the Under-16 junior encounters.

It will be a close call with Trinity holding the edge, but the Under-18 event will be one-sided with Trinity pilling up 38/5 win in the first leg.
