Royal outplayed Vidyartha who showed some fire power early in the initial half ran out of steam having travelled down to Colombo. In the end Royal ran out 47/3 win to add their second win for the season after the first win came against Science College.
Deshan Balasuriya who scored two dandy tries against Trinity for Vidyartha almost crossed Royal line if not for a try saving tackle by Phylio Calyanarathne. A few minutes later Thineth Gamage crossed over to score the home team’s first try. Thivain Perera added the extras. Last 12 minutes of the initial half Royal not only managed to score three more tries but also to add the much need bonus point. They took the short breather at 26 to nothing. After the turn around too Royal continue their complete dominance to score three more converted tries. Royal scored their balance tries through Charana Perera, Tharusha Samarakoon, Charuka Senevirahne, Dias Pathirana and Ajmal Marikar with Simak Shafeek, Nabil Yahiya and Thivain Perera doing their kicking duties for the Reid Avenue outfit. Vidyartha’s only scoring was through a drop goal by Udeesha Ratnayake.
