Royal College was tested fully before they continued their winning form as the defending champions of the Singer League 2019 when they went past a brave Randles Hill outfit by 20-12 up in the Hills.

Kingswood, too, got their chances but they panicked and never scored a single try. But Royal played well as a team and looked a yard faster and professional in their approach of play. Though the Kandy school dominated with territory, they could not finish off with any scoring of tries.

Royal scored two first half tries through Mohamed Nawal and Radeesh Wijeratne, while the home team replied with two well-executed penalties off the boot of playmaker Hirusha Sampath.  Madush Vikum scored the last Royal try with Malsha Perera putting over the conversion plus a penalty. Hirusha Sampath, who had a grand outing, put over another two penalties to cut the deficit but ran out of time to grab a win at home.

Referee Priyantha Gunaratne controlled the game very well.
