Old boys of Royal College will go out all guns blazing as they take on the hosts, Old Boys of Trinity College for the coveted G C Wickramasinghe Memorial Trophy - Bradby Golf 2023 at the picturesque Victoria Golf Resort (VGR) in Rajawella, Digana on 15 July.
Tee off is expected to be at 12 p.m.
Now a board event at VGR this year the tournament in its 8th edition will feature 40 players and will take place a week ahead of the 1st leg of the Kandy Bradby Shield. Royal Skipper is champion and single handicap Golfer, Suhaib Sangani and Trinity will be led by former Junior Golfer, Sampath Hemachandra.
The event adopted a “Ryder Cup” styled match play format and continues to be very popular, but organisers also encourages all old boys of both schools to join in to play alongside the main event. This will be the first time the tournament will be played in memory of late G.C. Wickramasinghe, who was a rugby star and part of the 1956 Royal Rugby team. He passed away late last year.
Trinity will go out all guns blazing to regain victory and the title which they won last in 2021, they lead the series 4/3. Trinity will be bolstered by national Golfer, Haroon Aslam who will participate this year as an old boy who returned to the Island from USA. (SJ)
