Royal toil to bowl out Thomians for 297 on Day 1

Royal College Colombo bowled out S. Thomas College for 297 off 88.2 overs on the first day of their 145th Battle of the Blues at the SSC Grounds, Colombo.

Royal won the toss and invited Thomians to bat first. 

Opener Sadew Soyza top scored with 83 for Thomians in his first big match. His innings lasted 134 balls and included 11 fours.

Dineth Gunawardena made 50 whilst other contributors to the strong score of Thomians included Nathan Caldera (44), skipper Mahith Perera (36) and Akash Fernando (29).

Bowling honours for Royal was shared between Ramiru Perera and Sineth Jayawardena who shared 4 wickets each.
