The Sri Lanka Boxing Coaches Association (SLBCA) is set to hold a two-day training workshop at the Mendis Power and Fitness Center – Kochchikade, Negombo on 29 and 30 January to improve the mental state of our athletes and coaches who have suffered setbacks over the past few years.
“All arrangements have been made to conduct this training course with the participation of all the boxing coaches in the island. We will talk about high-profile training programs, training methods that take a new boxer to an advanced level from the beginning, how to prepare for tournament, discuss about this year’s local competitions (school and club level) technique and tactics, and upcoming competitions, rules, and new programs by the International Boxing Association (IBA),” said SLBCA President Upali Bandara.
The main focus is to prepare coaches in advance for upcoming one-star and two-star courses being held internationally and regarding the rule and regulation slightly modified by the International Boxing Association.
The lectures will be conducted by IBA Instructor/Boxing Referees and Judges Association – SL President Capt. R.K. Indrasena (Retd.), IBA three-star Referee Rukman Wekadapola, Kelaniya South Asian Academy of Sport Science Director Dr. Aravinda Wijemanna, and Dr. Arabewaththa of Navy. Participants should register for the coaching camp before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, 29 January.
