SLC awards $ 30,000 to national rugby team

Sri Lanka Cricket decided to recognise the achievement of the national rugby team, which won the Asia Rugby Division 1 Championship by beating Kazakhstan on Saturday in Colombo, with an award of $ 30,000.

The decision to recognise the players and coaches who were involved in achieving this excellent win was taken by President of Sri Lanka Cricket Shammi Silva, and the Executive Committee, keeping in line with Sri Lanka Cricket’s continuous policy of recognising sporting excellence in the country.

Sri Lanka Cricket is extremely happy with this achievement, as it promotes the national rugby team into the top tier of the Asian Rugby circle, which augurs well for the country’s sport arena, the media release states.
