Sri Dharmaloka College, Kelaniya were the recipients of five newly constructed practice turf wickets funded by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
An initiative of the National Pathway Program of SLC, the new facility is expected to help uplift the cricketing standards of the college, which plays cricket across all age groups.
The opening ceremony of the new wickets was held last week with the participation of SLC National Development Centre (NDC) Head Kamal Dharmasiri, Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association Assistant Secretary Kamal Indrajith, College Principal Vipula Kulatunga, along with teachers, students, and members of the Old Boys’ Association .
The new wickets were donated to the school as its Under-19 team qualified to play in the Division 1 of the School Cricket tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association, with the support of Sri Lanka Cricket. The college’s Under-15 and Under-17 teams are already playing in the Division 1 tournament, while the Under-13 plays in the Division 2.
This wicket-building project was carried out under SLC’s National Pathway Program, which aims to provide equal opportunities for talented young cricketers across the country to develop their skills and aspire to represent the national team.
