Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday filed a writ application in the Court of Appeal to quash the report submitted by the inquiry panel headed by Retired Judge Kusala Sarojini Weerawardena appointed by the Minister of Sports, to inquire into alleged incidents occurring during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, on the basis that the contents of the said report supersedes the mandate of the Committee.
The Additional Solicitor General, representing the respondents, informed court that the Attorney General received the said report only on 19 January and therefore, the Attorney General will need further time to provide its independent decision thereto.
In the said circumstances, and based on the undertaking given by the Attorney General, the Court directed that the prevailing status quo of Sri Lanka Cricket shall be maintained till the next court date.
