SLC opens 10 new concrete side wickets in Ratnapura district

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) recently declared opened 10 new concrete side wickets built for the use of schools and sports clubs in the Ratnapura district.

The concrete side wickets were built in areas such as Embilipitiya, Godakawela, Ratnapura, Kalawana, Udawalawa, Balangoda, and Opanayaka, under the Cricket Gamata program of the SLC.

The schools that received wickets are Bodhiraja College of Embilipitiya, Royal College of Embilipitiya, Udawalawa College of Embilipitiya, Kularatne Central College of Godakawela, Kalawana National School of Kalawana, Batugedera Vidyaraja College, and Vidyaloka Central College of Balangoda.

Apart from the schools, concrete side wickets built for the Kamburugamuwa Cricket Club of Godakawela, Embilipitiya National Sports Club, and the Challengers Sports Club of Opanayaka were also declared open.

These concrete side wickets were built by the Ratnapura District Cricket Association, using the financial grants from SLC.

The newly-built concrete side wickets were handed over to the Ratnapura District Cricketing Community by Gihan Weerasinghe, the former President of the Ratnapura District Cricket Association, and he is also an Executive Committee Member of the SLC. Eranga Prasad, the Secretary of the Ratnapura District Cricket Association, also took part in the opening ceremonies, which took place recently.
