Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has sent their own senior security manager, Major-General Sugath Swarna Bothota, along with the Sri Lanka cricket team to ensure a smooth tour of England.
SLC raised concerns on the safety of the team following the escalation of violence in England and North Ireland over the fatal stabbing of three children in Southport.
“We obtained a security report from the ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) and also a security plan, which our security manager will follow in liaison with the British security,” said SLC CEO Ashley de Silva.
Sri Lanka has three Tests against England at Manchester and London (Lord’s and the Oval).
