Sri Lanka Cricket has decided to donate Rs. 100 million for the ‘Little Hearts Project’ of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH).
The funds will help build a ‘Cardiac and Critical Care Complex’ at the LRH, which, once built, will help treat children with congenital heart diseases (CHD) and critical illnesses.
The grant will be handed over to the hospital authorities during the finals of the Lanka Premier League 2023.
The decision was taken by the Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Cricket, led by Shammi Silva, President of Sri Lanka Cricket, taking into consideration the national importance of this project. “We are very happy to be a part of this noble cause, as we consider that the well-being of children is of paramount importance to our nation and its future,’’ said Silva. “As a responsible organization, Sri Lanka Cricket always comes forward to help national causes such as this, and this is one more such effort.” During the Lanka Premier League 2023, Sri Lanka Cricket provided a massive promotion for the ‘Little Hearts’ Project of the LRH in a bid to further raise public awareness about the program using the league’s international exposure.
The Rs. 100 million grant will include the Rs. 6.7 million so far raised by SLC through its ‘Bat and Bowl for Little Hearts Program’, launched during the LPL.
